Extension of School Bus 634e to school in the morning

Following feedback from the school community last year, school bus 634e has been extended to enable students wishing to travel to school from the Botany and Pagewood areas to join a direct bus to schools in the Randwick District. The 7:44am Route 634e trip from Eastgardens will now commence from Banksmeadow at 7:20am, operating along Botany Rd before turning right into Banksia St and following Route 307 (formerly Route 310) to Eastgardens. The bus is scheduled to depart Eastgardens at 7:44am (no change) and then follow the same route as last year towards Randwick. The closest bus stops for Brigidine College students are Randwick Girls’ High on Avoca St and Belmore Rd at Randwick Junction.

SWIMMING CARNIVAL The Annual Swimming Carnival will be held on Friday 15 th February at Botany Pool. This year we will starting the Carnival early and finishing early to avoid the heat of the day. Announcement - Principal Brigidine College Randwick

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Sharyn Quirk as the Principal of Brigidine College Randwick, effective from Term 1, 2019. Sharyn is currently the Assistant Principal: Curriculum and Assessment at St Clare’s College Griffith, ACT (2015-2018) and was previously the Pastoral Care Coordinator at St Mary MacKillop College Wanniassa, ACT (2013-2014). Sharyn has also held the position of Assistant Principal: Student Welfare (Pastoral Care) and held other school leadership positions, including that of Acting Principal. Sharyn is a highly effective and contemporary Catholic leader, with particular expertise in girls’ education. Sharyn holds a Bachelor of Music Education (NSW State Conservatorium of Music) and is currently finalising a Masters of Religious Education (Australian Catholic University). The appointment of a new Principal is a very significant occasion for the school community. Parents and families appreciate that Catholic schools are an important part of the Mission of the Catholic Church. Since the early 1820s they have been a priority for the Bishops and Church leaders in Australia. Together with parents, pastors and families the Catholic school provides opportunities for students to be nurtured in their Catholic faith and to know more fully the religious tradition to which they belong. Under the leadership of the Principal, the school community aims to provide high quality Catholic education for all the young people in its care. At the time of this announcement, I wish to thank Ms Kate Edmondson for her successful leadership of Brigidine College Randwick (2008-2018). This is a successful outcome to a thorough and lengthy process of selection. The contribution to the process by Fr Peter Hearn MSC, Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Randwick is highly valued.

Yours sincerely

Elizabeth O’Carrigan
