College Procedures

IF:

1. YOU ARE ABSENT FROM SCHOOL

Your parent/guardian should ring the school before 8.30 am and leave a message for your Roll Teacher. When you return bring a note from your parent/guardian. Students must not write absent notes.

2. YOU ARE ABSENT OR ILL AND HAVE AN ASSESSMENT TASK

Ring the school with details from the KLA Subject Co-ordinator. Complete the Misadventure form on the first day of your return to school attaching a doctor's certificate to the form.

3. YOU ARE LATE TO SCHOOL

Report to the office to have your time of arrival noted. if you do not have a note from your parents explaining your lateness you will have an afternoon detention.  All notes relating to late arrival at school must be written on a separate piece of paper and must carry the following information:  You should be at school by 8.20am

* The student's home address
* The date the letter is written
* The full name and Roll Class of the student
* The parent's name and signature
* The Roll Teacher's name
* The reason the student is late


4. YOU HAVE TO LEAVE EARLY

Bring a note, written and signed by your parent/guardian, and have it signed by your Year Coordinator before 8.40 am. Bring the signed note back when you go to the Student Office to sign out early.

5. YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT DURING SCHOOL HOURS

Years 7-10 All appointments should be made outside of school hours. If an appointment has been made during school hours a parent/guardian is required to come to the school office to pick the student up and sign her out. This is a safety issue for our younger girls. We would ask that parents support our safety of the students over convenience and ask that all parents always engage with staff respectfully and appropriately as per SCS guidelines.

6. YOU FEEL SICK OR ARE INJURED AT SCHOOL

You come to the Office to report that you are sick. If you are to go home your parent/carer will be contacted and you will be signed out either by your Year Co-ordinator or the Assistant Principal.

7. YOU WISH TO LEAVE CLASS FOR ANY OTHER REASON
Ask your teacher for permisssion to leave class.  You only Leave class for a health issue

8. YOU BRING ANY VALUABLE ITEMS OR SUMS OF MONEY TO SCHOOL

Hand them in to the School Office on your arrival at school. Do not leave any valuables in your bag or locker. Have your locker locked at all times.

9. YOU BRING A MOBILE PHONE TO SCHOOL

If you need to bring a mobile phone to school, it must be turned off  at 8.30am and stored with you or in your locker. It should not be turned on again until 3.20pm.  Phones are not allowed to disturb the learning in a classroom. Studnets should notring their parents during the day.  If a student needs to talk to a parent she must speak with someone first.

10. YOU ARE UNABLE TO WEAR YOUR FULL SCHOOL UNIFORM

Have your parent/guardian write a note of explanation and present this to your Homeroom Teacher for signing. This note will allow you to be out of uniform for one day only. Students wearing thongs or other open footwear will not be allowed to attend any classes.

11. YOU CHANGE YOUR ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, PARENTS' WORK NUMBER, ETC

Ask your parent/guardian to contact the School Office immediately with details.

12. YOU WISH TO HAVE EXTENDED LEAVE DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR.

They access the form using this link: Forms for Leave and Exemption.  Once completed, you have then to hand it in at the Student Office.  

13. YOU NEED HELP WITH A PERSONAL ISSUE

Make an appointment to see your Homeroom Teacher, your Year Co-ordinator, the School Counsellor or the Assistant Principal. You can choose the adult who can best help you or will get you the help you need

14. YOU LOSE YOUR BUS PASS OR TRAIN PASS

Report the loss to the School Office and collect an application form for a replacement pass.

15. YOU LOSE SOMETHING

Report your loss to your Year Co-ordinator immediately. Enquire at the School Office for Lost Property

16. YOU FIND SOMETHING

Take it immediately to the School Office for Lost Property.

17. YOU ARE GIVEN A DETENTION

Detention is an important part of the discipline structure at Brigidine College. Students who consistently violate the College's rules and procedures will be given some form of detention. If the matter is of a very serious nature, other procedures will be followed as stated in the College Discipline Policy.

Detention is held on a weekday afternoon for one hour in the usual form of detention, but depending on the nature of the misdemeanour, students might also be placed on a before school detention or detention at a pupil free time.

Attendance at detention is compulsory and if students have outside commitments at the time of their detention, attendance at detention takes priority over the outside commitment.

Parents are notified in writing when their daughter is to attend detention. The parent permission form is to be returned to the office the day after receipt of same.

If a student misses her detention for no valid reason, she will be issued with an additional detention, ignoring this detention will incur suspension.

18. YOU HAVE BEEN ISSUED YARD DUTIES

If a student is given a yard duty for acting inappropriately, she is expected to complete the yard duty during the next recess/lunchtime. yard duty means picking up rubbish in the playground.

19. YOU NEED TO USE CLASSROOMS

At no time are students permitted in classrooms without a supervising teacher. At no time may a student use a Specialist Classroom e.g. Science, Art, Music, D&T, Computing unless the supervising teacher is present.
